Factors of Success
A recent submission to an SAP SuccessFactors saw me trying to choose a password.
It seems to be common today that a password has a minimum length (OK!) but also has a maximum password (why!?!?).
I was conservative with a 64 character password created by my password manager. Little did I know that I could only have up to 18 characters.
And no spaces or unicode characters.
It’s another case of why, why, why. And why again.
Come on, SAP. It’s nearly 2026 as I write this, passwords can be processed no matter their length, even over 18 characters.
